How to kill cockroaches and get rid of them once for all.

“The criminal was last seen at the kitchen counter, trying to steal some food while there was nobody watching. Luckily my husband saw him and was able to hit him violently with his flip-flops. But it seems his a member of a well-spread gang and we’re afraid of retaliation.” Jane Doe, Brisbane, 2020.

The said husband was last seen shortly afterwards running 5 kilometres away from his home, once he realised the criminal could fly.

  • 1. Natural Pesticide Spray
How to get rid of flying cockroaches with eco-friendly solutions

The first tip is to help you take care of the aerial threat. This solution with olive oil will bring them down!

Rubbing alcohol + White vinegar + Olive Oil + Water. One part each.

We tried it at home with flies and it works. The spray makes difficult for them to fly, so you have two options: wait to watch them die or deliver the final blow!

Is said that the oil supposedly suffocates the insects, while the alcohol and vinegar are natural pesticides. The acetic acid (vinegar) in high concentrations breaks up cells, and the alcohol helps to increase its power.

As the three liquids have different densities, shake the bottle every time before using it.Try it out and leave your opinion on the comments. 🙂

  • 2. Essential Oil Mix

Various essentials oils are well known as effective repellents, like citronella, peppermint, lemon eucalyptus, lavender, and catnip. But some of them are also very powerful pesticide and bactericides, such as clove and peppermint oil.

Mix: 100 ml of alcohol, 100 ml of water, 20 drops of peppermint oil, and 10 drops of clove oil. Shake before using it. This will help keep ants and cockroaches away.

Some recipes indicate the addition of tea tree oil, but we do not recommend to use it on your kitchen.

  • 3. Sugar + Baking Soda Trap
Mix of baking soda and sugar

There are studies from the Michigan State University recommending this option to help with small quantities of roaches, especially followed with measures to decrease the chances of cockroaches at your home.

Mix sugar 40% and baking soda 60% and put the solution in small plates close to the places you can expect an attack. You can use 50/50 as well.

The baking soda is an option to avoid using borax, but it is important to keep it away from children, as high consumption of baking soda can be dangerous for humans and lead to diarrhoea.
