ESTIMATING CLEANER-HOURS

How many cleaning hours does your home need?

A useful estimate starts with home size, bathrooms, condition, frequency and priorities. Bedrooms alone do not tell the whole story.

Start with cleaner-hours, not clock time

A cleaner-hour is one cleaner working for one hour. Two cleaners working for two hours use four cleaner-hours but may finish in about two hours of clock time.

For regular Brisbane cleaning, the right starting point is the smallest booking that can reliably cover your non-negotiable tasks. Review it after the team has seen the home.

Planning ranges—not promises

Home and scopePossible starting rangeWhat can change it
1–2 bedrooms, focused maintenance2–3 cleaner-hoursExtra bathroom, pets, build-up, detailed requests
3 bedrooms, standard priorities3–4 cleaner-hoursMultiple bathrooms, stairs, large living areas
4 bedrooms, broader scope4–5 cleaner-hoursChildren, pets, floor area, infrequent visits
5+ bedrooms or detailed scope5–7+ cleaner-hoursLayout, condition, extras and access

These are general planning ranges only. A specific home may need more or less time.

The biggest time drivers

Bathrooms and kitchens

Wet areas involve several surfaces and types of build-up, so they often determine the minimum useful booking.

Condition and frequency

A maintained weekly home is different from the same home after a month without cleaning.

Priorities and access

A clear task order, accessible surfaces, parking and secure entry help the team spend more time cleaning.

How to improve the estimate

Send the layout, number of bathrooms, floor types, pets, current condition and your must-do list. Useful photos can reduce uncertainty. After the first visit, adjust the cleaner-hours based on what was actually completed.

At the current regular Brisbane rate, multiply cleaner-hours by $60.50 including GST. A two-hour minimum applies.

Common questions

Why did another cleaner quote fewer hours?

Scopes, team size, pace and assumptions differ. Compare the exact tasks and cleaner-hours, not just clock time.

Does a two-person team cost twice as much per hour?

The rate is per cleaner, per hour. A pair can complete cleaner-hours in less clock time; the quote should make this clear.

Can everything be finished in the minimum booking?

Only when the home and priority list fit that time. Larger or more detailed scopes need additional cleaner-hours.

Should the first clean take longer?

Often it does because the team is learning the home and addressing accumulated work. Regular visits may become more predictable.

How do I reduce the time needed?

Clear benches and floors, secure pets, provide access instructions and rank tasks before the visit.
